Magixx, the rising Nigerian Afrobeats star, recently shared his incredible journey to joining Mavin Records.
It all started when he was searching for a manager to help him break into the music scene. But fate had other plans! Don Jazzy, the legendary founder of Mavin Records, noticed Magixx's talent and the rest, as they say, is history!
Magixx wasn't looking to join a record label, he was focused on finding someone to help him book shows and promote his talent. Then, Don Jazzy appeared.
"I reached out to someone that I needed a person who would manage me and help me because things were really tight at that time. He reached out to a couple of people, and that was how Don Jazzy happened. I wasn’t even thinking about a record label. I was just thinking of someone that could put me on shows for the world to see my talent,” Magixx said.
According to him, Don Jazzy contacted him in September or October 2020 and eventually offered him a contract, making him the last artist to join the label at the time.
“They were going to unveil Ayra Starr that September, but because of the COVID-19 pandemic, they pushed her unveiling to January 2021, and every other person was unveiled thereafter,” he added.
