Governors elected under the banner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Bola Tinubu are currently in a private meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Afric Showbiz indicates that this is happening amidst the Federal Government’s attempts to appease upset Nigerians regarding the forthcoming protest scheduled from 1st to 15th August.
As per Daily Trust, the Governors, who arrived at the Villa by bus, were promptly escorted to the President’s office. Among those identified were Hope Uzodimma (Imo), Uba Sani (Kaduna), and Bassey Otu (Cross River).
The gathering is part of the government’s efforts to prevent the planned nationwide protest.
Tinubu Brought Protest Against Himself Due To His Anti-people Policies Meanwhile, the pan-Yoruba socio-cultural and political group, Afenifere, has blamed the policies of the President Bola Tinubu government for the planned nationwide protest in the country.
The group, which spoke through its publicity secretary, Justice Faloye, said it supports the protest but warned against violence.
The Afenifere spokesperson, made the position of the group known while speaking on Thursday during an interview on Arise TV’s Morning Show.
The group said though it won’t participate in the actual protest, the protesters have the full support of the group.
The pan-Yoruba group said hunger and harsh economic policies are responsible for the planned protest, adding that the palliatives introduced by the Tinubu government have been superficial.
