Chelsea confirmed the acquisition of 18-year-old midfielder Omari Kellyman from Aston Villa on Saturday in a transfer deal valued at a maximum of £19 million.
Kellyman, who made six appearances for Villa’s senior team after moving from Derby County to their youth academy in 2022, is also part of the English national youth setup.
“It’s a massive club with an amazing history, so it is great to join… I want to be successful in the Chelsea shirt, win games, and hopefully lift trophies,” Kellyman said.
“Hopefully, I can become one of the faces on the side of the stadium. I want to become a big player for this club.”
The young player had his first professional appearance for Villa in August 2023, impressing with his skills during the 3-0 win against Hibernian in the Europa Conference League.
This transfer marks Chelsea’s second agreement with Villa within the same week, with Dutch defender Ian Maatsen also joining Villa Park from Stamford Bridge for a reported £37.5 million on Friday.
