Ascaris lumbricoides, a sizable parasitic worm, is responsible for causing ascariasis in humans.

This Roundworm from the Ascaris genus is the most prevalent parasitic worm affecting humans.

An estimated 807 million to 1.2 billion people are infected with A. lumbricoides.

The roundworm primarily infects humans through the fecal-oral route.
