Operatives of the Lagos State Police have apprehended a 37-year-old man, identified as Azeez Olayiwola, for the possession of suspected counterfeit dollars in Lagos State.
This information was revealed by the Lagos State police spokesman, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, during a conversation with Vanguard.
Hundeyin mentioned that the 37-year-old individual reported to be a Baba Ijebu lotto agent and was detained during a search of his lotto game stand.
He said, “At about 11:30 p.m., during a coordinated raid of criminal hideouts in the Whitesand area of Ijora Badia, one Azeez Olayiwola, male, aged 37, who claimed to be a Baba Ijebu lotto agent, was arrested. During the search of his lotto game stand, a black bag containing currency suspected to be fake dollars was found.
“Immediately, the suspect and exhibit were taken to the police station. However, the suspect denied ownership of the bag but mentioned that some people use the suspected fake dollars to defraud others and that the bag containing the fake dollars was likely kept there when his salesboy was still working for him. Efforts are in top gear to arrest the fleeing suspect currently at large.
“Investigation is ongoing.”
