The country’s electricity grid suffered a system failure, causing a nationwide blackout.
The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) stated on Saturday, July 6, that the power outage in its area was a result of the national grid’s failure.
“Please be informed that the power outage being experienced is due to a system failure from the national grid at 3:10pm today, affecting the power supply to our franchise areas,” the AEDC said.
The DisCo has stated that it is collaborating with key stakeholders to expedite power restoration once the grid is stabilized.
The national electricity grid experienced its first collapse on February 4, 2024. Subsequent collapses occurred on March 28 and April 14.
