The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has demanded an “immediate reversal” of the petrol pump price nationwide.
NLC made this known in a post on its X page on Tuesday night.
The post reads: “We demand the immediate reversal of the latest increase in the pump price of PMS across the country.”
Earlier in the day, the union claimed they felt betrayed by President Bola Tinubu after the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL, raised the official price of fuel from ₦617 to ₦897 per litre.
NLC president, Joe Ajaero, stated that their acceptance of the ₦70,000 minimum wage was predicated on the understanding that there would be no further increase in the price of fuel.
Ajaero threatened that in the coming days, the appropriate organs of Congress would be convening to make suitable decisions which would subsequently be made public.
