Nigerian singer Temilade Openiyi, also known as Tems, clinched the Dr. Bobby jones Best Gospel/Inspirational Award at the 2024 BET Awards last night.
She surpassed other nominees like Shirley Caesar, Kirk Franklin, Halle Bailey, CeCe Winans, Erica Campbell, Maverick City Music, Naomi Raine & Chandler Moore, and Kirk Franklin to win with her song “Me & U.”
The BET Awards Dr. Bobby Jones Best Gospel/Inspirational Award is presented to an urban contemporary gospel artist based on sales and content quality.
It was initially known as the Best Gospel Artist award and was rebranded to its current name in 2017.
Kirk Franklin has the most wins in this category, totaling six victories.
